Tomball, Texas is a very relevant city in the state. It’s known for being home to thousands of people, having different recreation centers and parks, and offering both public and private education to pupils as well as several wildlife control companies. Demographics 

In 2019, there was an American Community Survey, which produced several results regarding the population numbers in Tomball, Texas. The area had a total population of 11,778, and 60.8% of the people were non-Hispanic white, while 29.5% were Latin American or Hispanics (of any race), 9.0% were African American or Black, and 0.1% and 0.7% were American Indian and Asian, respectively.

The population in Tomball is often spread out. A total of 25.3% are under 18 years old, 10.6% are from 18 to 24 years old, 29.8% are from 25 to 44, 18.6% are from 45 to 64, and the people 65 years or older are 15.7% of the population.

Industry 

Tomball, Texas is famous due to the growth of the Manufacturing industry. However, like many other cities in Texas, different industries are important as well.

Even though Tomball has certain economic disadvantages (such as the recent and future job growth numbers), it’s still in Texas, which is well-known for its many industries. Thus, the city’s diverse economy makes it an attractive place to live in, so that’s why its population has grown over the years.

History 

People arrived at Tomball in the early 19th century after settlers found an attractive land. They noticed it received fair rainfall, which was an incredible advantage if you wanted to raise cattle or farm. 

In 1906, Tomball started to become one of the most relevant places to live in because engineers noticed it was between the Gulf’s coastal plains and Texas’ low hills. Thus, it was the perfect spot for a train.

Once people started driving to Tomball’s train stop, the economy of the city started to boom. Many stores and businesses opened, such as Hotels, saloons, boarding houses, and mercantile stores. 

When experts discovered the oil field in 1933, Tomball grew even more since many companies were interested in the area, including Humble Oil Company. 

The aforementioned company made a deal with the town representatives – they would provide free water and oil in exchange for rights to drill on the land (the deal lasted until 1988).

Geography 

The United States Census Bureau has stated that Tomball has a total area of 11.9 square miles. There are 11.8 square miles of land and 0.19 of water (1.54% of the terrain).

Just like other cities in Texas, Tomball has a subtropical climate. It’s characterized by immensely hot summers and mild to cool winters.

Education 

All pupils living in Tomball can attend the schools in the Independent School District, which has eight elementary schools:

  • Creekside
  • Wildwood
  • Canyon Pointe
  • Rosehill
  • Grand Oakes

There are several private schools as well, including the Concordia Lutheran School, the St. Anne Catholic School, Cypress Christian School, Rosehill Christian School, Salem Lutheran School, Waldorf School, and the Great Oak School.

Tomball is part of the Lone Star College System, which is why Lone Star College serves the community. Lastly, there’s a branch of the Harris County Public Library located in the area as well.

Recreation 

People in Tomball can go to many different recreation centers. Even though Texas is known for being an industrial state, cities like Tomball have incredible places to visit, for example:

Tomball, Texas, has a tax rate of 8.3%, 1% higher than the US average. Additionally, the area has seen a 3.2% job market increase, and it has an 8.0% unemployment rate, 2% higher than the average in the United States.

Families earn a median income of $66,964, which is lower than the US average ($70,850). Furthermore, the average household income is $49,182, also lower than the average in the United States ($57,652).

Conclusion 

Even though Tomball has certain economic disadvantages compared to other cities, it has experienced population growth, and its oil production has been primordial to its development over the past few decades because it drove many companies to be interested in the area. Nowadays, it’s also famous for many other reasons.

Currently, it’s a place many people want to live in. Tomball has different educational opportunities, as well as recreation centers and parks everyone can visit and enjoy with their loved ones.
